It is compatible with Porter-Cable router motors, no. 6902 and 6912, providing a comfortable grip, and a trigger switch for easier operation. The D-handle and side knob allow better control when edge routing, and keeps more weight on the work surface during edging operations, to prevent tipping. A micrometer ring on the base acts as a reference for fine adjustments, to within 1/64 of an inch.
